“The Creator of Heaven” is also the Possessor of Heaven.
Heaven belongs exclusively to Christ Jesus.
“For by Him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by Him, and for Him: And He is before all things, and by Him all things consist” [Colossians 1:16].
Is it not ironic that there are so many of us, who love the concept of Heaven and want to be in Heaven after we die, yet want to have nothing to do with the One Who created and possesses it?
We, the created, want that blessed & blissful creation of Heaven, yet we hate and rebel against the One Who created it.
This is not a God forsaken world. It is a world that has forsaken God.
God made man in His Image. Yet many have chosen to believe that we have evolved from a bunch of monkeys.
The ‘theory of evolution’, they call it.
Yet, we sophisticated evolved monkeys, want to spend an eternity in a blissful Heaven created by the One we don’t want to acknowledge, believe and be involved with.
How ridiculously stupid we can really get. And we think we’re smart.
The reality is that we are smartly stupid.
The Cost Of Pride
This ego and pride of ours, which is the root of all sin has cost us dearly. The evidence being all around us in whichever direction we look. We have literally defiled “everything”.
We don’t like to be called stupid. It’s gets our “pride coated” back straight up.
Yet we have no problem calling God stupid and foolish.
Well, this is what Scripture has to say, “the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men” [1 Corinthians 1:25]
How true it is that, “Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall”. [Proverbs 16:18].
And yet, God has made a way out for us. We don’t need to suffer for our foolishness forever.
The Foolishness Of Preaching
The Bible tells us that, “the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God” [1 Corinthians 1:18].
And what is the message of the cross? That “Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, was buried and rose again according to the Scriptures for our justification” [1 Corinthians 15:1-4] and [Romans 4:25].
To the world this is a foolish message, yet in it lies the power of God to save.
The real reason we consider it so, is because it challenges our human pride and intellect. It’s just not intelligent enough.
It seems like a “nothing message”, because it’s independent of our human intelligence and pride. It does not feed our ego and so it is weak and foolish.
The truth is that it shows us up. Therefore we don’t want to accept it.
GOD’S Foolishness Vs Man’s Wisdom And Pride
With all of our achievements in technology and its advancement, it falls short of our ‘so called’ capabilities and potential. After all, we have walked the moon and explored space and talk about living on Mars.
We are too proud to accept something like the cross. For we think we know everything and that’s exactly where our problem lies.
How we very conveniently choose to ignore and willfully turn a blind eye to our disastrous fallen nature and depravity.
In reality, we are the ones who have fallen short of the Glory that belongs to Him [Romans 3:23], and attempt to hijack and claim it as our own.
Deep down we know this truth and yet choose to believe the lies created by us. We have made those lies our religious gods, which we love worshiping.
So we really are not that intelligent after all, are we?
And if we think we are, the reality is that we are intelligently foolish.
Yes, the message of the cross is a foolish one indeed.
YET, in believing in this message, lies wisdom.
In believing this foolish message, lies the very “Power of God unto salvation” [Romans 1:16].
Through the cross, “God has made foolish the wisdom of this world” [1 Corinthians 1:20].
And why is that? Because “the world with all its earthly wisdom failed to perceive and recognize and know God by means of its own philosophy”.
SO, “God in His wisdom was pleased through the foolishness of preaching [salvation, procured by Christ and to be had through Him], to save those who believed (who clung to and trusted in and relied on Him)” [1 Corinthians 1:21].
Remember, SALVATION = FAITH + NOTHING
Our ‘ONLY’ saving hope lies in the foolishness of the message of the cross.
True Love Hurts
We have all heard it said that “Love Hurts” and we all agree.
And if there is no truth in Love, it’s not Love at all.
The LOVE OF GOD is embodied in His Truth for HE is Truth.
It hurt God first, to sacrifice His Son Jesus Christ just for us. It was a sacrificial Love and most of us understand what that means, especially when it comes to dealing with our children. And sometimes it takes a long time for our children to understand and appreciate that.
That is what the ‘Cross’ is all about. It is God’s ‘Love in action’ in humility, showing us just that.
Today, that cross stands before us testing our humility. For it takes a humble heart. The only thing that stands in the way is our pride.
Is it time today for us to understand and appreciate that?
GOD IS A BELIEVER
It is the very nature of God to believe.
GOD BELIEVED! That is why He stepped down in belief, humbled Himself ‘first’ and did what HE did for us on the Cross.
We, who are created in His Image, have been created to believe.
Believing is an essential part of our very in-built makeup.
Why do ‘we’ make faith such in issue?
The Truth is that faith and our pride cannot inhabit the same place at the same time.
One of them ‘HAS’ to go and we get to choose.
Ignorance Will Not Stand As An Excuse
There is something the Bible calls “willful ignorance” [2 Peter 3:5] and [Romans 1:28]. Beware of that!
For when it comes to the foolishness of the preaching of the message of the cross of Christ Jesus, our “willful ignorance” “will” lead to an eternal regret.
NOW is the time to turn from being foolishly wise to wisely foolish.
The Bible calls it “repentance”.
FOR OUR ETERNAL DESTINY HINGES ON IT.
“There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death” [Proverbs 14:12].
A very simple crumb and very simply put. With a clear message leaving no room for misunderstanding. It is our pride that sometimes stands in the way of acknowledging God’s existence. None so blind as they who won’t see !! This was a very inspiring crumb to me and a wake-up call to the Love that God has in His heart for all of us. Praise The Lord !!
