The Finished Work On The Cross Of Jesus Christ Is The Deal That Seals The Assurance Of Our Salvation.
The Cross is really the fulfilment what Scripture talks about in [Galatians 4:4-5].
“But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law”.
The sole thrust and purpose was, “To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons”.
The Bible shows us, “For in Him (Jesus) dwells all the fullness of the Godhead (Deity) bodily;” [Colossians 2:9].
God, through His Holy Spirit, supernaturally impregnated a young Jewish virgin called Mary.
Jesus Christ went through the process of birth, just like us.
HE was born sinless, as He did not come through the line of sinful Adam as the rest of the human race did.
He was born as a Jew under the Law [Galatians 4:4], and was raised and grew under the Law.
Jesus Christ then went on to fulfill the Law with all its demands to perfection.
He did this so that He could be the real innocent lamb for that “once time all-sufficient” sacrifice.
This sacrifice would cover everyone from the first man Adam to the last man to be born in the human race.
Everyone who placed their faith in the symbolic blood sacrifices in the past and those who would place their faith in the Cross in the future, would be partakers of God’s Salvation.
The freedom to choose to believe or reject that ‘Sacrifice’, would lie with men.
It is still so today.
The Gospel we have today in this ‘Age of Grace’ is because of that “once and for all” sacrifice, Jesus Christ made for us on the Cross.
That, “Jesus Christ died for our sins, was buried and rose again for our justification”, [1 Corinthians 15:1-4] and [Romans 4:25]
The moment we only truly believe this + NOTHING ELSE, we are saved for eternity.
The Holy Spirit In Action
The Holy Spirit just needs a believing heart to spiring into action.
All God requires of us is, simply believe the Gospel with our heart + NOTHING ELSE. That’s all He needs.
The very moment we believe, something takes place, which our natural eyes cannot see, neither can our minds comprehend. And this takes place faster than lightning speed.
The HOLY SPIRIT, the promised Gift from God, immediately takes up residence in our human spirit to dwell FOREVER.
HE won’t leave and we can’t shift Him out, because this is an “ACT of GOD” and cannot be reversed. [Isaiah 43:13] and [Romans 11:29].
THIS is the “true blessing’ of Abraham that God spoke about in the Scriptures in [Galatians 3:14].
We are now no longer alone. The Holy Spirit is there whenever we need Him. He is actually that close to us. Where we go, He goes. Now we can better understand when God says, “I will neither leave you nor forsake you” [Hebrews 13:5].
The HOLY SPIRIT also immediately take us out of our sinful lineage in Adam and places us into what is called “THE BODY OF CHRIST”.
This takes place in the spiritual realm.
This “Body Of Christ” is the real Church, created by God and not by man.
And this “act” of the Holy Spirit, is what the Bible refers to as “Baptism”.
This is the only valid baptism and there is no other.
The Scriptures Are Clear
The Scriptures are clear and there is no confusion in them.
Paul, by revelation tells us in [1 Corinthians 12:13], that“For by one Spirit (that is the HOLY SPIRIT) are we all ‘baptized’ into one body “.
This body that Scripture is referring to here is “the Body of Christ”.
“Whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit (the HOLY SPIRIT)”.
THIS is the “Holy Spirit Baptism”, and there is ‘NO OTHER’.
“One Lord, one faith, one baptism“ [Ephesians 4:5].
This is the only “baptism” that is relevant for our salvation and nothing further is required.
These two “irreversible” and “irrevocable” acts of the HOLY SPIRIT “seals the deal”. PERIOD.
We now belong to Christ, (lock stock and barrel) for all eternity.
The ‘SIGNET RING’ Seal Of GOD
The signet ring has been around since the days of the Old Testament.
Used as a personal signature and for a seal, it was a symbol of authority.
This is the same type of ring that the Pharaoh took off his finger put it on Joseph’s hand in [Genesis 41:42].
This would give Joseph all authority over everything.
These days when a very important package has to be delivered, it is sealed with an official seal.
This seal is the “stamp of authority”. The document or the package ‘MUST’ remain sealed, till it reaches its destination, and into the hands of the recipient.
During its transit, or journey, this seal, lawfully, “CANNOT” be broken.
I think you’re getting the picture.
The Great Assurance
See what a wonderful assurance Scripture in [Ephesians 1:13-14] gives to us the moment we believe the Gospel:
“In Him (Jesus Christ)“ Paul tells us, “you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation”.
“In Whom also, having believed, you were ‘sealed’ with the Holy Spirit of promise”.
How clear, straightforward and simple the Scripture is here.
“Who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory” .
Notice the beautiful order of this Scripture; “You first heard, then you trusted and then you believed. And after believing, you were the ‘Sealed’.
NOW that is both “AMAZING” and “AWESOME”.
So we, who are now members of the BODY OF CHRIST, are that “very important package”, which has been “irrevocably sealed”, by the HOLY SPIRIT.
And the Holy Spirit is the very “SIGNET RING” of God Almighty, till Heaven becomes our possession.
WE “NEVER EVER” HAVE TO FEAR LOSING OUR SALVATION.
Right now is a great moment to shout, “HALLELUJAH”.
Absolutely wonderful explanation about Baptism. And Salvation. And the incredible link they both have with The Holy Spirit. Amen !! Praise the Lord for His seal and deal. Hallelujah !!
Amen. Keep looking to the Cross to remind you that your Salvation is always secure. Keep taking Communion regularly to celebrate the Cross as that reminder. As the Bible says in Hebrews 12:2, “Looking unto Jesus the Author and Finisher of our faith”. What HE has begun, HE will also complete.
